GREENS CALL FOR PHASING-OUT OF MINING
Meanwhile, the New South Wales Greens have called for an immediate phasing-out of coal mining across the state.
The party has also asked the state government to rule out any chance of coal-seam gas mining on the Central Coast, and to reject the controversial Wallarah 2 development.
“Sooner or later, New South Wales will move out of coal mining. The question is how quickly we do it. The message we have for every other politician is look at the future. Look at the jobs that can be generated if we make the rapid transition to clean technology manufacturing and renewable energy.”
The party’s Central Coast candidates expressed their concerns out the region’s water supply if CSG mining was to go ahead.
