A former detective has been sentenced to 20-months in gaol, for having sex with a woman using a gun at the Kingscliffe police station.
Mark Garner began a relationship with the woman, who cannot be named, after she came into the Tweed Heads police station in June 2011.
In September of that year, he and the woman snuck into the closed station and had sex in various locations, while he was supposed to be a general duty supervisor at Tweed Heads.
Garner will be assessed to see if he can serve his sentence by way of an intensive corrections order.
