Police are appealing for information after a man wearing a Spiderman mask attempted to rob the KFC at Mayfield last night.
Just after 11pm, the bandit threatened a 24-year-old employee with a knife, while demanding cash from the safe.
When told it was on a time-lock system, he ran from the store empty-handed.
Newcastle Police are asking anyone with information to call them, or Crime Stoppers.
