Signal problems at the already notorious Adamstown rail gates caused delays for motorists and train commuters of more than two hours this morning.
The gates became stuck at around 7am, before they began to move involuntarily.
Rail officials say it was the result of repair work being undertaken on signal equipment at Broadmeadow.
Police were on hand to re-direct traffic, until the issue was eventually resolved at around nine o’clock.
New South Wales TrainLink has apologised for the delays.
