A 50-year-old man has been charged with murder, following an assault in a backyard in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Cardiff overnight.
At about five o’clock, a 57-year-old man was visiting his elderly mother on Main Road, when it’s believed an argument broke out between him and a neighbour.
Police say the neighbour entered the backyard and allegedly assaulted the man, punching and kicking his face and body, before returning to his house.
A friend took the man to Maitland Hospital, where he died
