A 19-year-old man has been charged over the alleged assault of a Coffs Harbour man who is currently in hospital with critical head injuries.
Police were told two men aged 35 and 41 were walking along Ocean Parade when they were involved in an argument with another group of people at about 12.15am last Monday.
It is alleged that the 35-year-old man was knocked unconscious when he was punched in the face, falling backwards and hitting his head on the road.
The man was airlifted to Sydney where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
The 41-year-old man was treated for soft tissue damage and released the same day.
Strike Force Satur arrested the suspected 19-year-old at his home this morning.
He was charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm in company, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
