Tamworth Regional Council has decided not to go ahead with a recently proposed 6.7 per cent rate rise following community backlash during its public exhibition period.
More than 2,500 submissions were made to council over the past few weeks.
Council will now look at other options to secure funding for future projects.
“The message we take out of that is that we need to, we need to look uh look at the programs we’ve got now and find any additional funding we need from within the organisation so that’s what council will go back and do now.”
