NSW NEWSAGENCIES BAND TOGETHER

Come April next year newsagencies across the state could lose exclusive rights to sell lotto tickets.
A five year deal will expire next year, which means supermarket giants like Coles and Woolworths could be able to sell lotto products as well.
To put a stop to this, a petition is being circulated in newsagencies state-wide.
“The sale of the lotto products actually represents about 30 per cent of their turn over and if you allow Woolworths and Coles to suddenly start selling lotto tickets uh you’re going to find that a lot of news agents are going to put off staff or they’re actually going to close their doors completely because they’re just unviable.”
