BAIRD: FUTURE OF RAIL CORRIDOR UP TO COUNCIL

Premier Mike Baird has confirmed once Newcastle’s heavy rail is cut on Boxing Day, the future of the corridor will be left in Newcastle City Council’s hands.

Arriving in Newcastle to discuss the CBD’s revitalisation plans, he was greeted by a small, but vocal group of protestors campaigning to save the rail line.

Minister for the Hunter Gladys Berejiklian was present at the meeting, in what was her first trip to the region since September 4.

  1. Interesting to note that the above states a small but vocal group of protestors. I witnessed the group and the arrival of Mike Baird, they were not vocal at all, as they had agreed to have a “silent protest.” They waved their protest banners in the air as I followed Mr Baird into a building on Honeysuckle Drive to as him a few questions about the proposal and was surprised that these ‘so called” protestors fighting to save the rail, stood meekly outside!
