PARTIES HEADING BACK TO COURT OVER LANDMARK RESERVE SITE

The former Newcastle Bowling Club site is set to remain stagnant for many more months, following the recent breakdown in mediation talks.

A community group maintains the land should be open space, while a developer is pushing ahead with his plans, despite more than five years of trying.

The Headland should not be used for the financial advantage of a developer, It is part of the park, has the best view on the coast and is dedicated for the use of everyone, not for the paying few. The Park is already used to capacity by families, sporting groups, walkers, weddings, reunion picnics.With a an exploding population and increased pollution Newcastle needs more, not less park land.

King Edward Park belongs to the people of Newcastle and NSW. Keith Stronic’s proposed function centre denise the right of the community to access this wonderful location. Crown land, if it should be developed at all, should remain in public hands, not be handed over to Developers for short term profit.
