HUGHES ENTERS THIRD DAY IN INTENSIVE CARE

An update on the condition of Macksville cricketer Phillip Hughes is expected today, as the top batsman enters his third day in intensive care.

The 25-year-old has been in an induced coma at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital since Tuesday, when he was struck in the head by a cricket ball at the SCG.

Hughes was playing for South Australia in a Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales.

Fellow cricketers Michael Clarke, Brett Lee, Shane Watson and Mitchell Starc have maintained a bedside vigil during the past few days.

Meanwhile New South Wales Health Minister Jillian Skinner will meet with the New South Wales Ambulance Service today to discuss concerns about the time it took for an emergency team to arrive at the SCG.
