Representatives from sports clubs across the region played barefoot bowls at the West Coffs Club yesterday.
Apart from raising money for the Cancer Council’s Sun Smart campaign, the event was a chance to recruit new members, even though membership is growing.
“We are the trend setters but we’re not sitting back on our laurels and saying things are good because our membership’s gone from 100 to 150 – we’re looking for 50 more new members,” said Ken Lowry from the West Coffs Club.
It was the club’s first barefoot bowls promotion.
