RAPID AERIAL RESPONSE TEAM ON STAND-BY IN TAMWORTH

With thunderstorms and temperatures of up to 40 degrees predicted in parts of the North West, the Rural Fire Service has stationed a Rapid Aerial Response Team at Tamworth Airport for the weekend.

The helicopter, which is based in Queensland, is ready to go in the case of a bushfire emergency.

“We’ll get in the helicopter, we’ll head out, have a look at the fire see whether or not we want to deal with it. If we are able to deal with it uh we’ll hop down out of the helicopter, we can either winch or hover exit.”

A team of six will be on stand-by again tomorrow.
