A Casino man has been charged with attempted murder, after allegedly stabbing an 18 year old girl in the head and chest overnight.
Police say a violent scuffle broke out between the pair outside Lismore City hall, shortly after 1am.
A passing taxi driver stopped to help the woman, and called police.
An officer drove her to Lismore Base hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.
The 22 year old man was later arrested in Casino, after a police pursuit ended with his car bursting into flames.
He’ll front court tomorrow.
