PILOTS GLIDE FOR A TICKET TO ITALY

14 of the country’s best sailplane pilots are taking to the air this week at the World Grand Prix qualifiers in an effort to win a spot at next year’s competition in Italy.
Today gliders took on a 300 kilometre course near Armidale.
Pilots have come from all over Australia, one pilot even travelled from Germany for the event.
“It’s different to power flying because you’re using the power in the air the natural environment to actually to actually plan your flight and get around the course that you planned to go.”
The top three pilots will be announced on Saturday.
