CLARENCE COUNCIL FINED OVER RIVER POLLUTION

Clarence Valley Council has been fined for polluting the Clarence River earlier this year.
The Environment Protection Authority slapped the $1500 penalty on council for causing sediment laden storm water to run into the river near Palmers Island.
EPA investigators went to the site in August, following a resident’s complaint about roadworks in the area.
Council says it’s working to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
