A development application for a 40 metre high communications tower on Tamworth’s Flagstaff Mountain has been approved.
It will allow the Rural Fire Service and police to upgrade their communication equipment.
Initially, there was community concern about the visual impact of the tower on the northern sky-line, but council believes the benefit of having the tower will be worth it.
“This will enable the police to put in digital radio equipment which our community has been asking for the last couple of years, so it’ll be a, I think it’s a pretty good win win all around.”
