Council mergers are needed across the state – that was the warning from the premier at the Local Government Conference today.
“We are providing significant incentives for councils to consider mergers coming together and we look forward to their response – in essence the status quo cannot remain when we’re losing a million dollars day from councils across the state that needs to be changed.”
Lake Macquarie and Newcastle is one proposed amalgamation – something the Lake Mayor is opposed to.
