THIRD CANDIDATE JOINS RACE FOR NEWCASTLE’S TOP JOB
A former Newcastle councillor has joined the race to become the city’s new Lord Mayor.
Independent Aaron Buman says progress was being made at council prior to Jeff McCloy’s resignation, and he wants to see it continue.
“Council was living beyond it’s means and they’re working hard to address that. There’s a confidence in the city – that’s shattered at the moment – but we need somebody who can rebuild that and I believe I can.”
Buman is the third candidate to nominate for the November 15 by-election, which also includes Labor councillor Nuatali Nelmes and the Greens’ Therese Doyle.
