A man has been charged after an attack on a female police officer on the Gold Coast overnight.
The 20-year-old was allegedly struggling as he was placed in a police vehicle, breaking a window and kicking a door which struck the female constable in the head.
The officer was knocked out and needed several stitches.
The man is facing charges including serious assault and wilful damage.
