There was a lucky escape for the pilot of a light plane this morning, after he was forced to make an emergency landing at Armidale Airport.
Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 8 o’clock, after reports the plane’s landing gear had failed.
Armidale Dumaresq Council says “the aircraft landed with its wheels up on the main runway. Until the Australian Transport Safety Bureau has undertaken their investigation, it is not known whether this occurred due to mechanical failure.”
It took crews an hour to remove the plane from the runway.
