NSW OPPOSITION COMMITS $750M FROM NEWCASTLE PORT SALE
The New South Wales Opposition has committed $750-million of the Newcastle Port privitisation proceeds to the Hunter, if Labor is elected next year.
The announcement came today during a visit to the region by the state Opposition Leader, John Robertson.
He’s pledged to invest the money in projects, rather than spending the majority of the proceeds on cutting Newcastle’s rail line.
“I am proud to be in Newcastle for this landmark announcement – guaranteeing the people of the Hunter $750 million from the sale of Newcastle Port,” said Mr Robertson.
“The Hunter deserves more – and Labor will give you more. We are determined to lead the transformation of Newcastle and deliver progress for the entire region.”
