Newcastle’s independent councillors want the Local Goverment Minister, to investigate the Lord Mayor.
The group has written to Shelly Hancock, asking her to look into whether Nuatali Nelmes should have used her casting vote, to appoint herself to Newcastle Airport’s board.
The position comes with a $50,000 annual salary.
According to regulations – councillors can vote on measures concerning their own appointments to external organisations.
