BOGEY HOLE REMAINS OFF LIMITS AS NEW DECK DESIGN IS PREPARED

The weather is heating up but Newcastle’s Bogey Hole remains closed to the public.

It’s more than two months since the composite fibre decking on the new swimming platform was washed away by big seas.

And it’s expected to be many more months before it is repaired and reopened.

Crown Lands, which manages the historic rock pool, says it’s looking into a new design to minimise the risk of failure.

The state government department says it will continue discussions with Newcastle Council on the future management of the Bogey Hole, once it’s reopened.
