SWANSEA MP STANDS BY EVIDENCE GIVEN TO ICAC
Member for Swansea, Garry Edwards, is standing firm on evidence he gave to the Corruption Commission inquiry into illegal donations yesterday.
Mr Edwards made the comment in a statement released this afternoon, in which he also thanked the community for its support.
“I thank the community for its immediate and continuing outpouring of support during what has been a difficult few weeks.
“I have received many cards, letters, emails, phone calls, Facebook and text messages as well as face to face expressions of goodwill,” he said.
The ICAC heard Mr Edwards was handed an envelope of cash from developer Jeff McCloy for ‘raffles’.
The Swansea MP maintains he didn’t look at how much money was inside, instead handing it to his campaign member Max Newton.
Mr Newton has since died.
