A 26-year-old woman has died, following a single-vehicle crash at Hexham this afternoon.
Police say the woman was driving under the Hexham bridge at around 2:30pm, when she crossed to the wrong side of the road and hit a concrete barrier.
She was taken to John Hunter Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and would like to speak to any witnesses.
