November 8 or 15 have emerged as the most likely dates for the Newcastle Lord Mayoral by-election.
There have been calls from some quarters for the poll to be held on October 25, the same day as the state by-elections in Newcastle and Charlestown.
But council General Manager, Ken Gouldthorp, says the Electoral Commission has advised the council election must be held on a separate date.
He says it’s up to the Commission to decide on the date.
