STATE GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES SHARK SPOTTING DRONES

A multi-million-dollar strategy has today been unveiled by the State Government to protect beachgoers from sharks.
A fleet of 34 drones will take to the skies over the New South Wales coastline, including at South Kingscliff, Cabarita, Byron’s Main Beach, Seven Mile Beach, Sharpes Beach, Shelly Beach, Lighthouse Beach and Airforce Beach.
SMART drumlines and shark detection stations will also be deployed along the Far North Coast.
It comes after 60-year-old, Rob Pedretti, was fatally attacked by a great white last month while surfing south of Kingscliff.
