Lismore has farewelled one of its biggest sporting champions.
Reginal Ryan Baxter passed away last week aged 89.
Inducted into the Baseball Queensland Hall of Fame in 2011 – the great grandfather helped get the sport up and running in Lismore in the 50s.
“Dad would give up his lunch time to visit these schools to coach any boys any boys interested in playing baseball then again on Saturday. His favourite saying was show me a person playing sport and I’ll show you a person out of trouble.”
He was also a councillor for 16 years.
