EPA AND WYONG COUNCIL TO CRACK DOWN ON PETROL CONTAMINATION

The Environmental Protection Authority will join Wyong Shire Council to conduct a blitz on petrol contamination in the area.

Officers will inspect about 40 petrol stations with underground tanks this month, to determine whether any leaks are polluting nearby drains or service trenches.

If managed incorrectly, leaks in petrol tanks can lead to contamination of neighbouring soil and water.
