– A memorial service has been held at St Patricks Cathedral in Melbourne to honour the victims of flight MH17. Families and dignitaries mourned the 298 victims including 38 Australians. Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove told the gathering that our teams on the ground in Eastern Ukraine are working tirelessly to bring home all the victims and that justice would prevail.
– Queensland Police have charged a man in connection with the unsolved triple murder of Barbara McCulkin and her two daughters – a cold case dating back 40 years.
– A daredevil in Poland has taken skydiving to extreme new heights, shimmying across the wing of a glider before giving the pilot the thumbs up and taking the plunge.
– And an elephant has roughed up a car with two people inside at a South African wildlife park. The people weren’t hurt but the VW hatchback was badly damaged.
