SPILL FEARS AFTER FISHING TRAWLER SINKS IN YAMBA

A 20 metre uninsured fishing trawler sank at its moorings in Yamba Harbour overnight.
Fire and Rescue crews deployed containment booms to prevent water pollution, but there was no major fuel leak from the vessel.
Investigators have yet to determine why the boat went down.
The owner believes a power fault may have caused the bilge pumps to fail and estimates damage at over $20,000.
He’s now considering whether the trawler is worth trying to salvage.
