SCONE RAIL CROSSING ANGER

A broken rail has temporarily cut the Hunter Valley town of Scone in two and fuelled to calls for a much needed rail overpass in the town.
A coal train travelling through Scone had to stop, blocking both the New England Highway crossing and also the Liverpool Street crossing effectively cutting the town in two for about 50 minutes.
The train was eventually dragged back to the north of the town clearing the crossings.
Angry locals have taken to facebook. Cindy Coward posted the following words.
“It was only a matter of time. Pray to god no-one needs to get to a hospital or a house is on fire. They have known for years the impact it would have should this ever happen and something needs to be done about it ASAP not in five years time but NOW.”
The RMS announced in December last year an overpass will be built and that there are also plans for a bypass. $90-million has been set aside for the project.
A long standing procedure has been put in place for access to two rail crossings in Scone. It was developed by the Australian Rail Track Corporation and the town’s emergency services.
Surely the NBN news crew are not filming while driving? Looks like it was being filmed from the drivers seat while the vehicle was moving!
Welcome to our world. Aberdeen is constantly getting cut in half. We live on Rouchel Road, and for some time the only exit was across the rail way, since the bridge was gone, gets cut off by coal trains for hours. I’ve often been late for work, or had my husband on the other side of the tracks not able to get home. We have many elderly people, and young children living on this road.. Get your damn act together.
