UPPER COOPERS CREEK ROAD TO BE REPAIRED BY FEBRUARY

Byron Council expects it will take another six months to repair the landslip ravaged Upper Coopers Creek Road.
Around 100 people were isolated after the road was cut in half during this year’s Australia Day floods.
The repairs are tipped to cost $2-million and should begin in November.
“It’s a lot of money – Council currently has about 12 land slips after that cyclone in January and our estimated total cost is about 13 million at this stage.”
There are also plans in the pipeline to build a temporary access road to service the area incase the road is cut again in the future.
