TAMWORTH FIRE AND RESCUE OPEN DAY
Fire and Rescue stations across the state opened their doors to the public today, encouraging families to visit their local fire fighters and learn more about fire prevention.
Tamworth’s Carthage Street station drew a crowd the moment the doors opened.
“It’s really important a chance to A see who we are and that we’re part of the community but also a chance to hear some of those important messages the kids will take home- so to get down low and go go go.”
Nearly 60 per cent of house fires start in the kitchen, so a range of demonstrations about smoke alarms and preparing a home fire escape plan were a focus of the day.
“A working smoke alarm saves lives and to dial triple 0 are the two most important things people can take home.”
