NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE OVER THE STATE OF HUNTER STADIUM PITCH

Negotiations between the Baird Government and sporting bodies are continuing over the state of the Hunter Stadium pitch.

The surface appears to have improved slightly now the A-League season is over, but will still need big improvements for January’s Asian Cup.

Work is expected to cost at least $1.5-million.

“Football pitches don’t look that flash during this period of time so I’m confident the pitch will look fantastic by the time the tournament gets here”

Local organisers are ramping up preparations for the tournament, and are now calling for volunteers to help.

“People are going to say this is a world game and we’re part of that so people are excited.”
