WORKERS VOTE AGAINST LATEST WAGE OFFER
Abbatoir workers at Wingham Beef Exports have voted against the company’s latest pay offer.
80 per cent of employees took part in the ballot, conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission at the Wingham and Macksville plants this week.
124 workers said no to the offer of a four per cent wage increase in the first year, followed by 3.5 and three per cent in the following years.
121 voted yes.
The long-running pay dispute has seen hundreds of workers go on strike over the past six weeks.
The company will meet with representatives from the Australian Meat Industry Employees Union tomorrow morning.
