Gold Coast Mayor, Tom Tate, wants rich tourists to be able to land their helicopters on the beach.
He’s calling for a helipad to be built on Kirra Groyne, one of three he’d like to see around the Southern beaches.
“The good part about it is that you can be dining and having al fresco in Coolanagatta and within minutes you can just walk over there and go and have your lunch in Springbrook.”
The first of its kind anywhere in the world – it’s considered a great opportunity to showcase the city from the air.
If the proposal gets approved by Council and the State Government it could be up and running by Christmas.
