Minister for Agriculture Barnaby Joyce has signed off on $1.4-million worth of grants to assist innovative New England farming projects.
Armidale’s CSIRO centre is set to benefit, receiving more than $500,000 towards its sustainability studies surrounding life cycle impact assessment.
And, a large portion of the funding has been dedicated to Glen Innes’ Department of Trade and Investment Regional Infrastructure and Services.
It’ll use $700,000 to see unmanned aerial vehicles and imaging technology designed to spot invasive weeds and pests off the grand.
The funds are part of the federal government’s $21-million Landcare innovation grants.
