Gold Coast Suns coach Guy McKenna has urged his squad not to become complacent over the Christmas break, declaring there’s only one player who’s a certainty for round one.
And while Garry Ablett’s future looks clear, the long-term outlook for Karmichael Hunt isn’t as certain.
“That’s a discussion I have behind closed doors with the recruiting, our list management and Scott Clayton.”

The coach believes the new competition for spots will provide a major boost for the squad.
“All the boys are understanding now, they finally understanding there’s some competition for spots. We haven’t been able to do that in the last three years so that’s exciting.”
