WALCHA PUSHES TO STAND ALONE

Walcha Shire Council has written to the state government rejecting its Fit for the Future proposal, which says it should merge with Tamworth.

Council called a meeting this week, where it resolved to seek an urgent meeting with Local Government Minister Paul Toole and ask him to reconsider, because it no longer supports the option.

Mayor Janelle Archdale believes Walcha’s been treated differently to others and says she’ll continue pushing to stand alone.
