Wilko led for the first half of his heat against fellow Aussie Mitch Crews.
But the natural footer from Currumbin – who’s secured a berth on next year’s World Tour – saved his best for last, with two seven-point barrels to advance to Round Three.
The Queenslander now faces a showdown with 11-time World Champ Kelly Slater.
