TAME WINS SILVER MEDAL AT WORLD KAYAK TITLES

Avoca’s Lachlan Tame has finished second at the World Kayaking Titles, in the K2 1,000 metre event with Ken Wallace.

The Australian’s produced a blistering finish, but it wasn’t enough to reel-in the German pair, who won by a second.

“I think we can definitely do it, that’s for sure. And we got closer again today. That’s a couple of races where the margin is getting smaller and smaller between us.”

The result means Australia has qualified to compete in the event at the Rio Olympics, but the athletes who will race in it won’t be decided until April.

Meanwhile Riley Fitzsimmons’ K4 crew has qualified fastest for the final, to be raced tonight.
