The man known as soccer’s little professor, Leo Baumgartner has been farewelled at his funeral in Coffs Harbour.
Born in Vienna in 1932, the former international Striker was a household name in the 50’s and 60’s after playing for Austria.
Once he hung up his football boots, he took on the Director of Coaching role for Sydney United.
In his 60s and 70s he coached players at North Coffs, Sawtell and the Coffs Coast Tigers, with which he won a premiership.
At 79, he was still seeking to improve players all over the North Coast.
Leo was 81.
