A man in his 50’s is fighting for his life after he was involved in a serious accident north of Newcastle earlier today.
According to police, the man was sitting in a boat on a parked trailer late this morning, when the boat was struck by a passing vehicle. The boat has apparently flipped over and careered onto the opposite side of the road.
The victim was taken to the John Hunter Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred on the Pacific Highway near the Old Punt Road turnoff in Tomago.
Police have established a crime scene. The 18-year-old male driver of the vehicle is also in hospital with minor neck injuries.
