There were heavy traffic bank ups on the MI Pacific Motorway at Somersby after a truck crashed into a rock wall.
The driver of the unladen semi was trapped for more than an hour in the crumpled cabin of his truck.
The man suffered head injuries and has now been freed and taken to hospital.
Two of three North bound lanes have now been re-opened but some delays can be expected
while a cleanup operation continues.
