Newcastle Council says it’s received 90 submissions, mainly against, a $1.3-million plan for 100 manufactured homes off Industrial Drive at Mayfield.
Residents have likened the development to a trailer park and are concerned it will increase the cars in Arthur Street from 40 to up to 500 an hour.
The developer says the gated estate meets a shortfall in affordable housing.
