The activist who was allegedly behind the hoax email that wiped millions off Whitehaven Coal shares has pleaded not guilty.
25-year-old Jonathon Moylan fronted Sydney’s Supreme Court today, charged with disseminating false material.
The environmentalist is alleged to have sent out a fake press release in January, claiming ethical concerns had led ANZ Bank to withdraw a $1.2-billion loan to the mining company for its Maules Creek mine project.
The move temporarily wiped $314-million off Whitehaven’s stockmarket value.
Moylan will stand trial on June 30 next year.
