The Pacific Highway south of Taree was closed for most of today due to a bushfire.
The main fire front is in the area of Purflett
The Caltex service centre on the highway has been evacuated.
Heavy smoke is affecting traffic, motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The Highway was reopened tonight.
