Fire fighters have a house fire at Pelaw Main near Cessnock under control but the house has been badly damaged.
Flames took hold of the weatherboard and tile house just after 9am.
Fire, police and ambulance units attended and confirmed there was no one was trapped in the house.
Fire fighting efforts were complicated by overhead powerlines falling down as a result of the fire.
